Outback has sedan-like handling In the mid-’90s, Subaru was going out on a limb with a raised wagon design when the sport-utility craze was building big-time momentum. There were lots of SUVs in the market, and lots of profits to be made if you had a vehicle that looked like it could go off road. Subaru decided to deliver Americans a more manageable off-roader.
