The Mazda MX-5, also known as the Mazda Miata, first appeared as a 1990 model during its wintry debut at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show. That seems like a long time ago. Subtle little features are why this car has received the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 midsize car Initial Quality Award. It was also named the 2008 North American Car of the Year.
