As a low-maintenance plant, it can live in almost any environment but especially thrives in temperatures between 65 and 90 degrees, out of direct sunlight, and placed in non-chlorinated water.

Succulents: Because these plants store water in their leaves, stems or roots, they can survive the winter with once-a-month watering as long as they are watered generously during the summer. Succulents favor bright spots, so place them in a south-acing window. Aloe, agave and cacti are some of the more well-known succulents that make particularly great display plants.

Golden Pothos Vine: Ideal for hanging, this popular plant pick is favored for its dependability and its beautifully cascading formation of green and yellow leaves. Snake Plant/Mother-in-Law’s Tongue: The strongest of all houseplants, these are deemed the best for beginners. Only succumbing to death if there is way too much water or none at all, these plants are both tall- with leaves ranging from 3 to 4 feet – and stiff. Fabulous in floor or table-top displays, green growers need only place them in bright light, warm climates, and let the soil dry between monthly watering.
