Winning buildings
The City of Chicago's Landmarks Commission has announced 17 honorees in 2009's Preservation Excellence Awards. The awards are given to acknowledge efforts in restoring city landmarks and preserving the city’s architectural and cultural heritage. The laurels are bestowed by the Historic Preservation Division of the Department of Zoning and Land Use Planning. Only properties that have been designated by the City Council as individual Chicago landmarks or that are within a Chicago Landmark District are eligible.
