Home-shoppers looking to buy a new or rehabbed single-family homes, a town house or a condo in a mixed-income neighborhood can get a $20,000 grant through the Partnership for New Communities organization.
The nonprofit group is offering the grants (you don't have to pay it back) from Dec. 13-19. There are no income eligibility requirements for the special incentive. However, the homes must be priced at under $450,000 at participating developments. One hundred grants are available.
On Dec. 20, the incentive returns to a $10,000 grant.
The program is part of a new city campaign, "Find Your Place in Chicago," to make Chicagoans become homeowners.
