A "Bungalows By Bus" tour on Sunday will wind through South Side neighborhoods McKinley Park, Gage Park, Chatham and the South Park Manor Historic District. The energy-efficient Green Bungalows in the Chicago Lawn and Auburn Gresham neighborhoods will be highlighted, too.
A North Side bungalow bus tour on June 8 will showcase homes in Ravenswood Manor, the Villa, Portage Park, Galewood, the Schorsch-Irving Park Garden Historic District and Historic Wrightwood.
Tours will be conducted by docents from the Chicago Architecture Foundation, who will provide commentary on the history of the homes and neighborhoods.
Each 4-hour tour will begin at 9 a.m. at the Chicago Architecture Foundation, 224 S. Michigan.
"Together with the Chicago Architecture Foundation, we are excited to once again offer our widely popular bungalow tours," said Annette Conti, executive director of the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association. "Our goal with these tours is to highlight the Bungalow Belt neighborhoods as an excellent destination for families, especially in a difficult housing market."
Tickets are $35. Members of the Chicago Architecture Foundation and the Historic Bungalow Association get a discount. Reservations are encouraged.
